For Friends: Your Support Matters

Supporting a friend through addiction is challenging. You want to help but don't know how. Your friendship can be a lifeline—when approached with wisdom and boundaries.

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."
— John 15:13

A Message for Friends

As a friend, you're in a unique position—not family, but deeply connected. I've seen friendships save lives when approached with compassion and clear boundaries. Your support can make a real difference when done wisely.

The Challenge of Supporting a Friend

When a friend struggles with addiction, you may feel caught between loyalty and frustration. You want to help, but you can't force someone to change.

What Friends Face

Helplessness: Watching them spiral and not knowing how to intervene
Frustration: Feeling like they're choosing substances over your friendship
Fear of Losing Them: Worrying they'll overdose or push everyone away
Boundary Confusion: Not knowing when to step back or step in

How to Help Without Enabling

True friendship sometimes means tough love. You can care deeply while still maintaining boundaries that protect both of you.

Healthy Ways to Support:

  • Tell them honestly: "I care about you, and I'm worried."
  • Encourage them to seek professional help or treatment.
  • Don't cover for them or make excuses to others.
  • Be available to listen, but don't become their enabler.
  • Take care of your own mental health—you can't help if you're burned out.

When to Step Back

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is create distance. If your friend is repeatedly lying, stealing, or putting you in dangerous situations, it's okay to step back.

You Can't Save Someone Who Doesn't Want Help

Recovery requires their choice. You can offer support, but you cannot force change. Protect your own well-being.

Why people stop looking once they find us

The only Christian recovery service built for all four people in the room: the addict, the family, the church and the rehab centre.

Most options make you choose: faith or structure, the addict or the family, a meeting or something that's there at 3am. We built the whole thing under one roof, with safeguarding written into it — so nobody has to settle for half an answer.

Individuals

Three sequential courses (8 + 17 + 12 weeks), a private AI companion at 3am, daily check-ins. First course free, forever.

Families

Their own courses — spouses, parents, siblings, adult children and children from age 5. Not a footnote to the addict's programme.

Churches

Full memberships for your people by invite code, a materials licence for the room, and a written answer to "who can see what".

Rehab centres

Aftercare that survives discharge, plus Recovery to Service — a supervised, verifiable path from former resident to peer supporter.

What you'd be settling for anywhere else:

✕A meeting once a week — and nothing at 2am
✕A secular app that can't talk about God, grace or your church
✕A programme for the addict that leaves the family to cope alone
✕Volunteers "supporting" vulnerable people with no training and no supervision
Here: all of it, in one place, from a former pastor who has walked this road — with the first course free so you can see for yourself before you spend a penny.
