Growing Hearts
🇪🇸 Disponible en EspañolChildren of Addiction — Ages 8–12
An honest, 8-week guide for children old enough to ask real questions about a parent's drinking — and old enough to deserve real answers.
By eight or nine, a child has usually worked out that something is wrong. They've noticed the pattern. They've probably built their own private theory about it — and more often than not, that theory puts the blame somewhere it doesn't belong.
Growing Hearts is an honest, biblically grounded 8-week guide written for children ages 8–12. At this age, vague reassurance stops working. What helps is the truth, explained clearly: what alcohol actually does to the brain, why promises get broken, and why none of it is a reflection of how much they're loved.
Each week follows the same steady rhythm: a short prayer and scripture, a feelings check-in, real teaching, a hands-on activity, gentle conversation starters, and a closing prayer. No fairy tales, no talking down — just clear facts and steady reassurance, one week at a time.
Across eight weeks, your child works through the things they've been carrying quietly: that this isn't their fault, that alcohol acts like a filter that isn't who their parent really is, that anger at the drinking doesn't mean anger at the person, that they have the right to be safe, and that a parent's recovery was never their job to carry.
